For my style project, I had the artist Alexander Calder. Although he is most famous for his mobile structures, he did have some famous paintings as well. In his paintings he did a lot of simple shapes and with that I decided to do a flower. My use of vertical stripes in the background, is something Calder did often. I used solid colors instead of different shades of values because Calder did this in all his paintings. I think that my painting came out well, the only thing I didn't like was that my lines did not come out straight and look a little messy. I like my use of complimentary colors with the purple and yellow. Originally I was going to represent Calder's style with a peacock but I went with a flower because I thought it was something I could keep and hang in my room.
